Actor Robert Wagner and his wife, actress Jill St. John, have sold their house in Los Angeles' Brentwood area, reportedly for close to $15,000,000.
The Los Angeles Times' Ruth Ryon broke the story of Wagner and St. John selling their home in Brentwood's Mandeville Canyon. The home, at 1500 Old Oak Road in Brentwood, was not on the market.
Ryon reported that the property "is about ready to close escrow," which puzzled us, since public records show that the sale closed on July 9, and the transaction was recorded on August 14. It'll still be a few more weeks until the sale price is made available in public records, and we'll of course share it with you at that time. The buyer is something called the Julian & Cissy Charles Trust, according to public records.
For reasons that we can't begin to understand, Ryon reported that Wagner and St. John are selling the Brentwood house because they spend "much of their free time at an out-of-state mountain resort," but she will not identify that location. We can report for our readers (and for Ryon's readers) that Wagner and St. John's longtime "mountain resort" home is in Aspen, Colo., where St. John had a home even before she and Wagner married.
In Brentwood, Wagner and St. John's 4,556-square-foot house was built in 1940 and designed by architect Cliff May, according to public records and the Times. The six-bedroom house has five baths and a pool, according to public records. The house, along with a combined parcel, sits on a 69,609-square-foot property--or almost 1.6 acres--and not the two-acre amount that the Times will report tomorrow, according to public records.
