Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman closes on loft in Manhattan’s West Village for $4.25M

Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has closed on a three-bedroom co-op loft unit in Manhattan’s West Village area for $4,250,000.

We previously had written on June 6 about reports of Hoffman going to contract to purchase the fifth floor unit in the building at 68 Jane Street in the West Village. Now, today, the New York Post’s fine celebrity real estate columnist Braden Keil wrote a follow-up item on the purchase of the six-room, prewar (actually built in 1900) unit. Features in the unit include two and a half baths, high ceilings, doors from Provence, a wood-burning fireplace and wood floors, according to listing information. The online listing also boldly and improbably called the living room “one of the largest single spaces in the West Village.”

Hoffman’s purchase involved an initial co-op declaration on June 5, as one of our commenters noted at that time. However (and sorry to get too technical here), the act of formally recording of Hoffman’s co-op purchase with the city, the process in which the actual purchase price is importantly revealed, didn’t occur until July 31.

Our June 6 post noted that Hoffman still owns a small penthouse condo at 1 Sheridan Square in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. It’s still unclear what the Oscar winner will do with that unit. We’ll of course endeavor to keep you posted.

Check out a cached version of an online listing sheet for the unit that Hoffman just purchased.

I actually really like this loft., and Phillip SH. So anyway Mr BT, there were reports that Jennifer Connelly was close to selling that gorgeous mansion of hers…did she sell? For what price? They would stand to make a bundle if they got near their asking price…
