Actor Mark Harmon apparently has paid $9,000,000 for a 19-acre estate in Malibu, Calif., although the name on the deed -- 'Marc Hamon' -- is just enough to puzzle us, given that the deed appears to have gotten both his first and last names wrong.

The Los Angeles Times' Ruth Ryon tomorrow will report on the apparent purchase by Harmon of Villa Vista Oceano, which is located on 19 acres at 4365 Ocean View Drive in Malibu.

Records show that 'Marc Hamon' purchased the property on September 17, with the deal being recorded on September 21. We usually can forgive one error in a public record's reporting of a buyer's name, but two errors? Might the buyer have been someone other than the 'NCIS' actor? Not having yet checked with any of our sources, we'd like to reserve the right to at least wonder out loud if that's not the case, particularly given 1) the divergence between the name on the deed and Harmon's real name (Thomas Mark Harmon); and 2) the fact that Harmon's real-estate transactions always have been using the name 'T. Mark Harmon.'

Built in 1978 and often leased, Ryon reported, by various bands over the years, Villa Vista Oceano has a Mediterranean-style main house with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a library/media room, 16th-century woodwork, a living room with cherry wood floors, and a total of 4,963 square feet, according to public records, or 7,000 square feet, according to listing information and Ryon. Features on the knoll-top estate, which is 2.5 miles from the Pacific Coast Highway, include a guest house, a gym, a tennis court, a pool, a spa, ocean-view loggias, a barn, corrals, riding trails, a wine cellar, a four-car garage with extra storage, and a vineyard, according to listing information.

The estate originally had been listed for $12.5 million, and later was reduced to $11.5 million. Check out online listing sheets for the compound here and also here.

For the record, Harmon (the actor) over the years has owned two properties in Southern California, along with his wife, former 'Mork & Mindy' actress Pam Dawber. These are:

--A 6,070-square-foot house on a 0.79-acre parcel at 564 N. Cliffwood Avenue in Los Angeles' Brentwood area, which he has owned for about 15 years;

--A 2,501-square-foot house at 943 Shelter Cove Drive in Lake Arrowhead, Calif., which he has owned since buying in 1987 for $750,000, according to public records.

Harmon and Dawber at one time had owned the 5,463-square-foot house at 2045 Mandeville Canyon Road in Los Angeles, which they sold in 1990 to director Barry Levinson.
