Actor Kerr Smith has dropped the asking price of his three-bedroom, 2,813-square-foot house in Los Angeles' Encino area from $1,479,007 to $1,399,000.
This is a listing that we have long meant to get around to, but haven't been able to do so until now. The Los Angeles Times' Ann Brenoff broke the story way back on March 3 of the "Dawson's Creek" and "Charmed" actor's listing of his French Country-style house, when it first was up for $1,479,007. More recently, the folks over at Blockshopper reported a little over a week ago on Smith's new asking price; their piece prompted us to dust this house off and finally resolve to write about it.
Built in 1936 and recently renovated down to the studs, Smith's house has three baths, exposed wood rafters, a gourmet kitchen, a master suite addition with a fireplace, and Niles surround sound, according to public records and listing information. Some listing information calls the house's size 2,911 square feet, but most public records say it measures 2,813 square feet. Outdoor features on the gated, 0.28-acre (12,371-square-foot or 12,373-square-foot) property include a saltwater pool/spa, a new roof, a cabana with a fireplace and a built-in barbecue, and a detached studio/media room, according to public records and listing information.
Smith paid $1,055,000 to buy the house in late 2004, according to public records. Now, however, with his price reduction, Smith is "serious" about selling, according to listing information. Although the Los Angeles Times and Blockshopper didn't print this, it's obvious to us why Smith is selling the house; he and wife Harmoni Everett are in the process of a divorce (he filed the papers on March 20), and that's why the house has to move, and fast.
We'll keep you posted on if this house sells -- and if so, for how much. Stay tuned.
