On April 13, the Los Angeles Times' Ruth Ryon led her farewell "Hot Property" column with the news of actor John Stamos having purchased a unit in downtown Los Angeles' Art Deco-style Eastern Columbia building. Ryon reported that reports were that Stamos had purchased a penthouse unit in the 13th-story building, on a floor where units ranged from $1,400,000 to $2,000,000. Now, in a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report the actual details on Stamos' purchase, which was just recorded a few weeks ago. The big takeaway: Stamos did *not* end up buying a penthouse floor unit, and instead ended on the building's 10th floor, in a unit that he purchased for $900,000. Public records show that Stamos' Lorbil trust closed on the unit, at 849 S. Columbia Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, on April 17 (i.e., four days after Ryon's item, but he undoubtedly went to contract long before Ryon's swan song), and that the deal was recorded on June 13. We previously had reported on September 14, 2007 about actor Johnny Depp's purchase of a unit in the Eastern Columbia building. And we wrote about other buyers in the building on January 8. There's still no information in public records to confirm that actor Frankie Muniz, who is the other big-name celeb that Ryon had reported on April 13 was buying in the Eastern Columbia building, actually has done so (or at least, has had such a purchase recorded yet). We'll of course keep you posted.
