Actor James Van Der Beek appears close to striking a deal to sell his three-bedroom house in Los Angeles' Studio City area, which he has had on the market for $2,445,000.
The Los Angeles Times' Lauren Beale broke the story, it appears, when she wrote the other day of Van Der Beek's listing of his 2,961-square-foot house south of Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, which is being billed by its listing agent as a "celebrity estate." Since that time, the MLS now says that Van Der Beek's house is "looking for backup," suggesting that a deal is imminent.
Built in 1999, Van Der Beek's house has three and a half baths, three fireplaces (including one in the master suite), an "entertainer's kitchen" (whatever that is), surround sound throughout, hardwood mahogany and Brazilian slate floors, an open floor plan, French doors leading out from all bedrooms, and an upstairs master suite with wood cathedral ceilings, according to public records and listing information. Outdoor features on the 0.55-acre (24,058-square-foot) gated property include two flat grassy yards, a pool and spa, a large motor court, a private patio upstairs from the master suite, 180-degree jetliner views, and a gazebo with a built-in Viking range and bar, according to public records and listing information.
Van Der Beek, shown here with his actress wife, Heather McComb, purchased the property in early 2001 (while still a single man) for $1,330,000, according to public records.
Beale reported that Van Der Beek is looking to buy on Los Angeles' Westside. We have no reason to doubt that, and we will keep you posted as we learn more about where the former "Dawson's Creek" actor lands next. We'll also let you know if Van Der Beek's house sells, and if so, for how much. Stay tuned.
